Rita Daly is a Victoria, B.C.-based visual artist, who explores the relationship between dialogue and its many forms of interpretation.
Most of her life and career as a writer has been spent in Ontario. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in modern history from the University of Waterloo, and worked as a reporter and senior editor at the Toronto Star for more than 30 years. She is the recipient of several journalism awards, including the Governor General of Canada’s Michener Award for meritorious public service journalism.
She has studied art at the Toronto School of Art, Vancouver Island School of Art and is being coached privately by art instructor Wendy De Gros. She has participated in group exhibitions in Ontario and British Columbia, including a joint exhibition in Toronto with her husband, photographer Ken Faught. She is a member of Xchanges, an artist-run gallery in Victoria, the Township Community Arts Council (TCAC) in Esquimalt, and Saanich Peninsula Arts and Crafts Society (SPAAC).
